A Swedish style approach, including flowing strokes that relax the nervous system and melt muscle tension. Each massage is customized to the needs of the client that day and include specific techniques for areas of tension. Deep tissue and prenatal are available options.
The hot River stones provide moist heat which aides in the opening and melting of muscles with ease. Our unique use of the stones at Grace and Shine, are as tools or as extensions of the therapists hands. We synchronize the heat along with the flow and pressure in the massage strokes for most therapeutic benefit.
Intuitive energy work in which the therapist holds energetic space for clients to access their own innate healing power. At Grace and Shine, Reiki is offered on its own (with hands on or hands off approach) and it can also be implemented into and with our other modalities. The option for discussion before and after the session, which allows for the work to be more of a conscious and team approach, is available at clients preference.
A gentle and intuitive therapy focused on releasing restriction in the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and other areas of the body to balance the body's nervous system. This work is light in pressure with the capacity to have huge effects. This modality can stand alone or be incorporated with our other offered modalities.
Emotional, Physical and Spiritual Wellness comes from Nervous System Health.
The Nervous System has two modes, the Sympathetic or 'fight or flight' mode and the Parasympathetic or 'rest and digest' mode. Stress, trauma, emotional triggers and over stimulation to the senses, can all lead the Nervous System into the Sympathetic or 'fight or flight' mode. This setting releases stress hormones that do not allow for rest, digestion or healing. The nervous system must be calmed and lead back into the parasympathetic mode in order for our bodies to heal. Once the nervous system is over-activated into the 'fight or flight' mode, we can not simply choose in our minds to calm it down and return it to our healing 'rest and digest' parasympathetic mode.
Nervous system regulation starts in the BODY not the mind.

Bio
Sara Robbins is a licensed and insured massage therapist in the state of Illinois. She has been licensed and practicing for 10 years. She has had the experience of working with chiropractors, in spas, and as an independent contractor in multiple settings. Sara has a passion for the mind-body connection in all aspects of life. She is trained and experienced in multiple energy work modalities including a Reiki Master, Polarity Therapy and CranioSacral.
Sara is also a practicing yoga teacher and lifelong yoga student.
Sara speaks on her work: 'My intuitive bodywork practice has been my greatest teacher and my greatest gift. I have learned and gained so much by witnessing and holding space for clients to open to their inherent healing wisdom. It brings me great joy and peace to follow my calling of intuitive bodywork.'
